An Afternoon With Bacco

Acrylic on canvas

36 x 48 in (91 x 122 cm)

About The Artwork

Using a pointillist technique, artist Maurizio Battifora utilizes small dots of color to create patterns forming an image. The swirling background, reminiscent of Van Gogh’s style, inspires a sense of movement. At the center, a group of figures engages in a celebratory gathering. Among them, a skeleton serves as a memento mori, reminding viewers of mortality and juxtaposing life with death.

The juxtaposition of swirling blue and white with earthy tones creates a dreamy atmosphere, contrasting the ephemeral with the eternal. Reflecting on the artist’s personal experiences and existential musings, the painting serves as a reminder of life’s transient nature and the importance of living in the moment.
