Biography

Maico Camilo, born in Brazil in 1982, made the decision to leave his home country early on to pursue his education. At the age of 23, he moved to New Zealand where he met his partner and now husband, Lyndon Bray. Throughout his life, Maico has extensively traveled and lived across Europe, Asia, South America, and Oceania.

Initially studying International Relations, Maico later made a clear decision to establish himself in the art world and pursue his passion for art. While starting his artistic journey, he also ran his own recruitment business. Immersing himself deeply in art, Maico sought to explore his own path and challenge his own paradigms, exploring different forms of communication and vocabulary through his artwork. In doing so, he aims to challenge viewers to confront the obvious in terms of what is happening around us.

Maico has been a professional artist for almost two decades and has made a significant impact in the art world. He is not only a successful artist but also a business owner and philanthropist. His work is recognized nationally and internationally, leading to invitations to exhibit in major art locations such as New York, Milan, Paris, Sydney, Tokyo, and Venice, among others.

Recently in 2023, he showcased his work in a major exhibition at the Auckland Museum.

Maico Camiloā€™s journey as an artist has taken him across borders and allowed him to develop his unique artistic voice. His artistic career showcases his multifaceted approach to life and passion for creating thought-provoking art.
